About Christos's career

In both cases, I bring to the surface daily social issues, citizens' problems and policy scandals.

I also interview senior officials from Cyprus, Greece and the European Union. Among them, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Ministers, European Commissioners and technocrats, leading artists and cultural figures.

At the same time, I put effort in my vision to make people's lives better by making their issues known to the public.

What is the best part of your job?

As a person strongly in favor of democracy, engaging in dialogue within a civil society is the best part of my job.

I ask tough and sometimes awkward questions to the Government and other stakeholders during interviews.

The first priority is to get the real picture of the events reported by the citizens, and to give a voice to those who need it.

Studying at Newcastle

How would you describe your time at Newcastle University?

My experience at Newcastle University and in the city, my engagement with the academic community and the friendships I made, definitely made me a better person and shaped my personality.

I'm grateful for what the University and the city of Newcastle have done for me and how they supported my professional life.

I hope that one day I’ll be able to offer back to the university all the love, support and wisdom I received...

What did you enjoy the most?

The support I received from the faculty and staff to have a vision, the flexible paths to knowledge and experience, and the trust and support I had during my dissertation from my supervisor, Professor Darren Kelsey, were crucial.

I hope that one day I’ll be able to offer back to the university all the love, support and wisdom I received back then.

What skills and knowledge have you found useful in your career?

The research, documentation and flexible approaches on how to complete the difficult task of a journalist, were among the most important elements that the degree offered me.
