Newcastle University Students’ Union (NUSU) supports more than 60 competitive sports clubs, offering plenty of ways to get involved. You could join a club, support Team Newcastle or take part in one-off activities.
As clubs are student-led, you can also become a Principal Committee member and help lead the club, organise activities and support its members. Principal Committee roles include President, Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Officer and Social Secretary.
As Welfare Officer you will:
- promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
- act as a wellbeing contact
- signposts to support services where needed
- lead the Club to work towards their Inclusivity Award
To join the Principal Committee of an existing sports club, you must be a paid member of that club and nominate yourself when elections open.
Or you could start a new sports club by forming a full Principal Committee, setting clear aims and gaining at least 15 paid members within three months to achieve full ratification and receive support from NUSU.
