We're responsible for a range of policies and procedures for students at Newcastle University.

The Student Progress Service is responsible for a range of policies, procedures and regulations that cover specific circumstances which you may face during your studies - from changing your degree programme or suspending your studies, to submitting a complaint or appealing against an assessment outcome. 

In this section, you can find links to the main rules, regulations, procedures and policies that you should familiarise yourself with at registration and throughout your studies.

These include:

  • University Regulations - including the University's Terms and Conditions
  • Student Progress Procedures & Disciplinary - including academic appeals, sickness and absence, assessment irregularities, student complaints and disciplinary cases 
  • Student Policies -  the main University policies that you may need to refer to during your studies, including assessment and examination, attendance, health, safety and wellbeing, and dignity and respect
  • Student Charter - summary of commitments agreed by the University community and signed off by the Vice-Chancellor and the President of the Students’ Union. The Student Charter sets out expectations for student behaviour and conduct

The Cases and Regulations Team provide advice on the University Regulations, rules and procedures.

All disciplinaries, appeals and complaints that need to be dealt with at a University level are handled by this team.
