Newcastle Student Fund
Got an idea that could make a real difference to students? Applications for the first round of the Newcastle Student Fund are open until 8 October.

Since 2020, the Newcastle Student Fund has helped students facing hardship, opened doors to higher education for those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those fleeing war and political unrest, and enabled students to achieve their potential. Funded through donations, the scheme is managed by a committee to support projects and initiatives that have a direct positive impact on students.
The fund supports students across their journey to:
- Get into Higher Education
- Get ahead in the Graduate Job Market (see Make It Happen Fund)
- Make the most of their student experience
- In times of greatest need
The 2026-27 deadline for Fund Proposals is:
- 8 October
- 25 February
- 27 May
How to submit your proposal
Proposals should aim to respond to the following:
- How will the fund directly impact on the student experience?
- Which part(s) of the student journey (see above) does this proposal support?
- How will evidence of impact be gathered and shared with the committee as well as current and future donors?
- How many students will the proposal benefit? (estimate)

Things to consider
- Proposals where funds directly benefit and/or are directly disbursed to students will be given highest priority.
- Proposals should be delivered within 12 months of your award.
- Where there is a financial need beyond 12 months, the committee encourages you to consider funding sustainability to ensure the disbursement fund continues to support a wide diverse range of projects.
- Successful projects will be expected to:
- Spend your funds within the 12-month period post award.
- Complete a short report at 6 and 12 months, evidencing delivery, outcomes and funding breakdown.
