What is Culture Lab?
Culture Lab is the focal point for creative arts practice at Newcastle University, supporting the work of researchers and students involved in high level, experimental and multi-disciplinary creative arts projects in a technologically rich and custom designed environment.
What activities does Culture Lab support?
- Large scale, long duration research projects
- Individual and interdisciplinary pilot research projects
- Postgraduate taught modules and projects in creative practice
- Undergraduate modules and projects requiring access to special facilities
- Viewings, public performances, exhibitions and readings in the creative arts
- Seminars, workshops and conferences
What services and facilities does Culture Lab offer?
- A well equipped and serviced base for research teams supported by large research grants
- Digital film and audio studios
- A state-of-the-art, 8-camera optical tracking motion capture system
- Green screen and a lighting stage
- Various workshop and digital fabrication facilities
- Reconfigurable "live events space", including screening facilities, and configurable meeting/seminar room

- External researchers and artists who wish to develop links with the University
