About the network

Algorithmic Work and Working Life (AWWL) explores how algorithms, AI and digital platforms are changing the way work is organised, managed and experienced. We examine what these changes mean for workers, organisations and society.

We investigate how individuals:

• interpret
• navigate
• comply with
• resist
• reinterpret

algorithmic management, the governance of visibility and platform governance in their everyday working lives.

What we do

Our research considers how technology can shape working lives in different ways depending on factors such as career stage, sector, location and social position.

It focuses on three interconnected areas:
