Mr Tom Caulker

Tom Caulker was born in Gateshead in 1964, living & working in Newcastle all his life. Tom is an independent businessman, operating in the leisure sector.

He ran the popular student venue ‘The Trent House’ for 25 years from 1984-2009 & established the city’s longest running Nightclub, ‘World Headquarters’ in 1993. The Club has a strong multiracial & inclusive ethos & he remains it’s Managing & Musical Director.

Alongside this, through his live musical promotions company ‘WHQ & Nat Tuner Live Events’ he also promotes regular large scale live music concerts at multiple UK venues.

In 2015 he was instrumental in staging the ‘Newcastle Unity Festival’ which brought major Trade Unions & the local community together, to attend an outdoor, anti-racist concert in Leazes Park which attracted in excess of 6000 people.

Tom chaired the 'Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Audit Committee' 2006-15, also chairing the Board of the 'Tyneside Cinema Trading Company' 2014-19.

Tom has been a Non-Executive Director of 'NE1' Newcastle's Business Improvement Company since its inception in 2009.

He received an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law from Newcastle University in 2017 in recognition of his achievements in promoting multiculturalism & equality to generations of the young people in the city.
