Yaseen is the current President of Newcastle University Student Union (NUSU) and was elected in March 2023 and started his term in late June. His role involves representing the 28,000+ strong student body at Newcastle University at University level. Prior to his election he served as student trustee for NUSU for the academic year of 2022-23 and he has recently graduated from his law degree.
Yaseen will be receiving the Newcastle Upon Tyne Law Society prize for the highest grade in his Company Law module and he has also volunteered for numerous organisations such as Oxfam and Marie Curie and has a passion for helping the local community.
Yaseen's main focus during his term will be looking at how both the NUSU and the University can provide more support to students, especially with the cost of living crisis.
