National Centre for Energy Systems Integration

Staff Profile

Dr Hamid Hosseini

Research Associate

Background

I joined EPSRC National Centre for Energy Systems Integration (CESI) as a postdoctoral research assistant in April 2017 and have been involved in CESI Research Project looking at planning, optimisation and operation analysis of integrated energy networks. The project is carried out through collaboration with industrial partners including Northern Gas Networks and Northern Powergrid. The networks include gas and electricity networks in both transmission and distribution levels as well as district heating network in distribution level as well as all the possible coupling components. Simulation and analysis of the energy networks is fulfilled through a whole-systems approach as the networks are becoming more coupled through various coupling components. Also, the models and the analysis are performed and validated through several Demonstrators including Newcastle Helix, InTEGReL, Cockle Park Farm and Findhorn.

I am also involved in UKRI Research and Innovation Infrastructure Roadmap as a researcher trying to identify the key research and innovation infrastructure in Energy for a low Carbon UK by 2050.
