Denture Base Materials
Novel resin formulations and high-performance polymers are being evaluated to enhance the mechanical properties of denture bases. Research focuses on optimising flexural strength, fatigue resistance, force transmission and dimensional stability to increase the durability and clinical longevity of removable prostheses.
Experimental Dental Composites
Investigations are underway to develop resin-based composites and novel filler technologies. Key areas of focus include minimising polymerisation shrinkage stress, improving wear resistance, colour stability and enhancing the long-term hydrolytic stability of restorative materials.
Nanotechnology in Dentistry
The integration of nanomaterials including nanoparticles, nanofibers, and nanostructured surface modifications is being explored across restorative and preventive dentistry. Research aims to leverage these nanoscale features to improve properties and foster biomimetic remineralisation.
Development of Endodontic Materials
New bio-interactive sealer formulations and root-end filling materials are being developed to improve clinical outcomes in root canal therapy. Focus areas include optimising seal-ability, enhancing biocompatibility, and accelerating bioactivity to promote periapical tissue healing and regeneration.
