Recognition of colleague’s contribution to political theory

Congratulations to Dr Jemima Repo who has won the 2025 Britain and Ireland Association for Political Thought (BIAPT) Mid-Career Prize.

9 October 2025

In 2020, BIAPT ran its inaugural Early- and Mid-Career Prizes, celebrating academics employed in Britain or Ireland who have made an impressive contribution to research and teaching in any branch of political thought.

Dr Jemima Repo, Reader in Political and Feminist Theory, was recognised in this year’s awards for her contributions to gender theory, biopolitics, and feminist politics.

Her recent research focuses on the commodification of feminine protest, social reproduction and settler colonialism, and Palestine.

In their commendation, the judging panel commented:

“… {Jemima is} an outstanding citizen of the international community of researchers in political theory. Driven by a commitment to making political theory speak critically yet productively to some of the most pressing debates and issues of contemporary politics, Repo has made numerous original theoretical contributions to gender theory, biopolitics and feminism.”

The award will be formally presented at the next BIAPT Conference in January 2026 at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr Repo commented:

“It means a great deal to receive this award from BIAPT. I am grateful to the judges, and to the many colleagues whose generosity, encouragement, and collaboration have made my career not only possible, but also worthwhile.”

About BIAPT

BIAPT aims to promote all branches of the study of political thought, which are often dispersed within and across a number of different disciplines.

The association was created in 2009 after a decision to create such a body was made at the Oxford Political Thought Conference in January 2008.
