Returners Support Programme

Internal funding scheme for academic returners

The Returners Support Programme (RSP) provides flexible, tailored support for colleagues to reduce the impact of extended leave at work.

The programme was initially designed in 2017 for academics and researchers. From 1 August 2021, the programme was extended to all colleagues.

Eligible colleagues can apply for funding to help build momentum and maintain career development on their return to work.

The flexibility of the programme means that the funding can be used in a way that suits you. Examples of how the money could be used include:

  • childcare costs to attend a conference or training
  • returners' coaching
  • reducing teaching time to focus on research activities.
