Equality,
Diversity
and Inclusion
The School commits to providing a good working environment for staff and students.
Working to address equality issues
Global events in recent years have highlighted there is still a long way to go to achieve true equality. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee are working to address these issues.
Students are vital in identifying areas for improvement in the School and curriculum.
Recent actions
Recent actions from our EDI Committee include:
- examining our teaching and course content
- broadening the diversity of our clinical teaching material
- reviewing our recruitment activity
- School pledge to NUSU
There are many aspects that can prevent an individual reaching their full potential. As a School, we are working proactively to address these.
Our EDI Committee members are students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds. They regularly meet to fulfil our commitment to making change.
Silver Athena Swan award
We played a part in the Faculty of Medical Sciences winning a Faculty Silver Athena Swan award.
This recognises our progress towards gender equality. It demonstrates the University has a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias.
We continue to work towards equality in the School and beyond.
