About Laura
I'm a serial returner to Newcastle University having completed my Bachelors and Masters here. I'm interested in the energy sector and have been specialising in regional energy transition research more and more. This is a theme I hope to continue in my professional career.
Project description
This project contributes to growing debates within evolutionary economic geography (EEG) and sustainable transitions research (STR) on processes of local and regional path creation and regional economic branching within the context of sustainable energy transitions.
It will investigate themes of:
- policy stimuli
- incumbent activities
- regional labour diversity
- regional positions
in emerging production networks in the North Sea Basin and build an empirical base of path creation mechanisms for transition.
This project is supported by a collaborative partner – Port Esbjerg – and will be researched through a combination of:
- documentary analysis
- semi-structured interviews
- focus groups
- walking ethnographies
My research interests include:
- energy geographies
- sustainable transitions research
- evolutionary economic geography
- regional development studies
Personal interests
I am a keen walker – often with a very enthusiastic four-legged friend accompanying – and as with any geographer like to explore new places.
