Project description

For many people, parenthood is often seen as part of ordinary life and a marker for adult status. However, it remains the case that most people with learning disabilities do not enjoy intimate personal relationships, marry, or have children.

This research uses qualitative research methods to explore what people with learning disabilities think about the possibilities of parenthood and having children, and to understand how family and care support networks can influence these imaginaries.
