My research is divided between global and intergenerational justice, responsibility, and exploitation.
My current research is concerned with threats that emerge from politics and society that are faced by young adults as a vulnerable social group. I am writing a book entitled Exploitation and Time: A Theory of Intergenerational Exploitation. The book develops a systematic account of intergenerational exploitation, and explores its implications for policy debates, using tools from political philosophy as well as public policy.
I have a keen interest in Lockean property rights in the context of the environment. I have advanced a moral responsibility approach to a right of self-ownership to help deal with incursions to our body caused by contaminants such as pollution and germs. My paper, ‘Rescuing Self-Ownership: Tackling the Pollution Problem’ has been published in CRISPP and is the winner of the 2020 Prize for Best Article. From this work, I am developing a moral responsibility approach to Lockean property rights.
