Staff Profile

I am a General Practitioner and National Institute for Health Research Doctoral Fellow. I previously held an NIHR In Practice Fellowship from 2019-2022.

I am Council Representative and immediate past Chair of the North East England Faculty of the Royal College of GPs.

My research is in the field of medical education, specifically general practitioner workforce recruitment and retention. My Doctoral Fellowship will apply realist methods to explore the potential of role modelling in undergraduate medical education to facilitate careers in general practice.

I also lead stakeholder and PPI involvement in a realist study exploring sustainability of GP careers with colleagues at University College London, funded by NIHR School for Primary Care Research https://www.spcr.nihr.ac.uk/research/projects/sustainable-gp-workforce-a-realist-review.

I teach Newcastle University MBBS year three students on a weekly basis during their clinical attachments to general practice.
