Regional Clinical Placements

Our regional medical school covers a wide geographical and demographically diverse area and provides a rich and exciting educational environment for our programme to thrive in. Throughout the programme you will capture this regional experience by rotating through a wide range of hospitals, general practices and community settings. You will also spend time in a tertiary hospital and experience medicine in the rural and urban setting.

In our placement model you will spend time in 3 geographical areas. You should expect to spend one year at sites close to the university campus, a year where you may need to live away from the campus and a year that is commutable from the campus. This means that there should be an expectation that you will spend up to one academic year living away from Newcastle and will need to commute to a greater and lesser extent, during the other two years.
