Amy Jones
Amy details her journey from applying to Newcastle, to her new role at Cheshire Cricket
Cricket Club Development Officer
I graduated from the SES course last year, I completed the course with a placement year in sport science with my current employer, Cheshire Cricket. I now work as the Women and Girls Club Development Officer, where I support local clubs to grow female participation, assist with Clubmark accreditation, develop volunteers, and help clubs with funding applications.
I also run strength and conditioning programmes for our Emerging Players Programme, lead the company’s fitness testing to support county selections, and manage maturation data to help assess injury risk in junior athletes as well as then working closely with the physiotherapist. Alongside this, I manage two county squads and deliver CPD workshops for coaches on safely integrating S&C into junior sessions as well as developing club coaches.
The SES course really set me up for this role. It gave me lots of opportunities to present data and ideas to a range of audiences, from players to coaches, which has been invaluable, especially now that I work with such a diverse range of people, from children as young as 6 to adult athletes. The S&C module, nutrition and sports medicine closely linked to lots of work that I do in my day-to-day role at CCB as I hope to enhance the performance of young players through sports science
Amy graduated in 2024 with a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science
