Induction 2025
Welcome
We hope you're looking forward to joining us as a new student at Newcastle University.
A100 teaching will begin on Monday 15th of September 2025 and during this first week there will be a mixture of University and Medicine specific induction, other events on campus and the start of formal teaching.
We don't expect you to do any preparation before you arrive. We would rather you come to us refreshed and ready to start your studies.
Stage 1 Induction Timetable

This will involve in-person sessions where you will receive important information about Year 1 teaching and assessments, and the academic and pastoral support available to you throughout the year.
During the first week, there will also be a session where you will be introduced to our virtual learning environment the Medical Learning Environment (MLE). This is where you will find your timetable, all teaching resources, training packages and additional information related to the programme. You'll also find your full induction week timetable here!

MBBS Launch Pad
To support your transition, we’ve created the MBBS Launch Pad, a website full of helpful information about the programme and life at medical school.
This resource provides essential information, including the course structure, introductions to key staff members, sample learning materials, study skills for transitioning to university, wellbeing support, and more. It will guide you through the pre-induction process and help you familiarise yourself with life at university and medical school.
We encourage you to explore the site as you prepare for this exciting new chapter. Make sure to also read our Student Welcome pages which will give you all of the information you need and what to do before starting.
Get ready to study
After induction, the first week of teaching will begin on Monday 22nd of September 2025 with the launch of the Foundation Case. Throughout Year 1 you should expect a significant amount of in-person teaching including clinical and communication skills, hospital and GP visits, dissecting room sessions and large and small group teaching.
If you have any questions about the academic year and what teaching will look like, please look at the frequently asked questions on our website. If you would like to discuss any support needs related to a disability or learning difficulty please contact our Student Health and Wellbeing Service.
