Supergen Energy Networks Hub

Staff Profile

Andreas Elombo

Dr. Andreas Elombo is a Research Associate in Future Energy Networks within the Supergen Energy Networks (SEN) Hub, under the School of Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Engineering Mathematics (SCEEM) at the University of Bristol. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), and a Master of Science (MSc) in High Voltage Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa).

Prior to joining the SEN Hub, Andreas has served Namibia’s power utility, Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower), for eleven (11) years, first as Assistant Engineer on Multidisciplinary Projects, and then as Engineer responsible for Research and Development (R&D). Andreas has also served as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town (South Africa), where he obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering.

Andreas’ current research interests include energy data analysis and the characterisation of design and operational parameters of energy systems with a high presence of distributed energy resources (DERs), energy storage systems (ESSs), electric vehicles, and other smart appliances. His interests revolve around characterising the impact of low carbon technologies on multi-vector energy networks with the view to create a knowledge base that informs the optimal design and efficient operation of future energy networks.
