Dr Jacqueline Kinghan appointed as Scottish Human Rights Commissioner

12 April 2021

Dr Kinghan has been appointed by the Scottish Parliament as a part-time member of the Scottish Human Rights Commission (SHRC)

The SHRC is the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) for Scotland. It has powers to recommend changes to
  • law, policy and practice;
  • promote human rights through education, training and publishing research;
  • and to conduct inquiries into the policies and practices of Scottish public authorities.

Together with three other Commission members, Dr Kinghan will be responsible for ensuring the SHRC fulfils its statutory objectives, powers and duties and for establishing the overall strategic direction of their work.

We warmly congratulate her on this appointment.
