A year on from the death of George Floyd, the students and staff of the School of Dental Sciences present an update of changes within the Dental School.

Newcastle Changemakers
The death of George Floyd last year sparked an increase in support for the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM) in the UK.
Over 70 of our students came together and formed 'Newcastle Changemakers' - a group whose aim is to call for changes in the School to improve EDI in academic and clinical areas.
Showcasing our work
The School invited the group to speak to the School EDI committee. This meeting has resulted in areas of the curriculum and school policy undergoing scrutiny and improvement.
This video has been produced by our students to showcase the work to date done by the School and student body. We will continue to work with our students to improve the education and culture of our school.
