As a postgraduate research student you can access a broad range of workshops as part of your faculty postgraduate researcher development programme. Subjects covered include:
- research and professional skills
- careers support
- wellbeing
- health and safety
- public engagement
- academic development

Find and book your workshops
You can browse and book workshops and events via the online booking system. You’ll see that workshops are organised by faculty.
Although your own faculty’s workshops are likely to be most relevant, you’re welcome to book workshops from any faculty.
Remember to keep checking in regularly with your training needs analysis and personal development plan. Amend it as you need.
It will help you stay focused and choose the best workshops for your goals.
Venues
Most workshops take place in one of two research student training suites:
- SAgE/HaSS Training Suite – HDB 6.16 and 6.19, 6th Floor, Henry Daysh Building
- FMS Graduate Training Suite – MED.MG.2.07, Cookson Building

Need a transcript of your workshop attendance for Annual Progression?
You can download one in PDF format via the workshops booking system or ePortfolio.
You can tailor your transcript by specifying the date range you need to include.
Once you’ve attended a workshop, you’ll receive an email inviting you to fill in an online feedback questionnaire. All your comments will be anonymous.

To get full benefit from postgraduate research workshops, put some thought into your choices.
Choose workshops in line with your training needs analysis and personal development plan.
Once you sign up to a workshop or course you are committed to:
- attending the whole course or workshop
- arriving on time to avoid disruption to others
- taking part in activities that form part of the course
- agreeing to carry out any preparatory activities that may be required
Make sure you understand the time and effort needed to complete each course or workshop before you sign up.
It’s important to be sure you can fit it alongside your other commitments.
Cancellations
You’ll receive handy email reminders of your workshop bookings in advance.
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as far in advance as possible.
Persistently late or don't attend
If you’re persistently late or don’t attend, you risk losing access to the online booking system.
