Research

Dr. Victor Pacheco-Peña's field of expertise is focused on the design of devices using artificial electromagnetic materials (metamaterials) and periodic structures at microwave, millimeter, terahertz and optical frequencies.

His research background in metamaterials and wave-matter interaction also includes the design and demonstration of metamaterial-based antennas and lenses for sensing and imaging applications. Within the past years, his focus has been on the development of high resolution dielectric structures and metamaterial lenses applied to microscopy applications.

Research Themes:

  • Metamaterials, metasurfaces and periodic structures.
  • Spatial, temporal and space-time metamaterials.
  • Terahertz (THz) devices.
  • Plasmonic nanostructures.
  • Communication Technologies.
  • Optics and Electromagnetism.

Professional research service:

  • The multidisciplinary research of Dr. Victor Pacheco-Peña has enabled him to become an active reviewer in more than 25 international peer-reviewed journals including Nanoscale, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Optics Express, Scientific Reports, IEEE Transactions on Microwave theory and Techniques, IEEE Photonic Journal and Applied Physics Letters.

  • Topic Board Editor in the journal "Electronics".
