School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics

Newcastle University has an excellent range of study and research facilities for undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers.

Physics Laboratories

Our Physics students have access to high specification laboratories and computing facilities in the Herschel Annex at the heart of the University campus.

Refurbished physics laboratories, teaching and study space were completed in Spring 2015, and you can see just some of the available facilities and equipment in the slideshow below.

Computer facilities

All staff and postgraduate students have access to online research facilities via their own fast desktop PC.

There is also a computer cluster (of about 150 PCs) on the first floor of the Herschel Building. The computer facilities are maintained by the University's Information Technology team.

Library facilities

Newcastle University has excellent library facilities. As well as the resources provided by the main Robinson Library, the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics houses a specialist library and reading room.

The Library Liaison team can provide further advice in using the library, and can help with more detailed subject enquiries. Jenny Campbell is the Liaison Librarian for Mathematics, Statistics and Physics.
