Our school brings expert staff together with outstanding facilities. Our postgraduate degrees in classics and ancient history cover many classical subjects, including:

  • material culture and history
  • language and literature
  • philosophy
  • history of science and medicine

We have strong links with related disciplines, history, archaeology and modern languages. We offer a range of postgraduate degree programmes to study classics and ancient history.

Support for postgraduate students

All our postgraduates have full membership to the School and University libraries. They have access to:

  • the postgraduate common room
  • clusters of PCs (and can borrow laptop computers for research trips)
  • stationery, photocopying, postage and inter-library loan vouchers
  • teaching opportunities (where available)

Our research students have the full use of the Postgraduate Research Suite. It offers desk space and computing facilities. You can gain financial support from the School for research trips.

We have a lively research culture with a full seminar programme. The Forum is an online e-journal run by our community of postgraduate students.

They organise weekly seminars, an annual conference and contribute to Polaris, the School blog.
