Current Responsibilities

I am currently responsible for leading and managing the support team in the School, ensuring the most optimal configuration required to support the School’s objectives.  Other key duties include:

Leading strategic planning cycle within the School.

Undertaking forward planning of all School business.

Implementing appropriate communication across the School.

Supporting Head of School and School Executive with the preparation and implementation of the School’s short, medium and long term plans.

Financial planning and management.

Developing and maintaining relevant management information for all School areas.

Developing and implementing business plans to realise School goals.


 

Background

I have over 20 years’ experience in Higher Education working at Northumbria, Durham and Newcastle Universities.   I initially worked in the area of learning, teaching and student experience at Northumbria University for 10 years and progressed from a programme support role initially to Quality and Programme Manager with responsibility for the support for over 3000 students in the School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences.  I then moved in 2008 to the role of Departmental Manager, Theology and Religion, Durham University until 2014; this role in a smaller Department also involved developing a deeper knowledge of research and finance in addition to learning, teaching and student experience.  I took up my current role in Marine Science and Technology at the end of 2014.
