Research support

Publication Fund

  • Paper has been accepted for publication in an indexed journal listed in Journal Citation Report (JCR) or Malaysia Citation Index (MyCite). 
  • The author must be a NUMed staff and as the corresponding author of the paper.
  • The paper must cite NUMed affiliation with the following address "Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed), No. 1, Jalan Sarjana 1, Kota Ilmu, Educity@Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri, 79200 Johor, Malaysia".

Publisher Agreements

  • Puiblisher agreements by Newcastle University to reduce the costs of open accessing publishing. Staff and students who act as corresponding authors to publish their research articles as open access without additional charges or discounts on publishing costs.

Student Conference Fund

  • The fund provides support solely for registration fees, capped at a maximum of RM 600 for both local and international conferences.
  • Its aim to empower student to improve their communication skills and consistently contribute to reputable conferences with indexed and high quality papers.

International Partnership Science Fund (ISPF)

29 February 2023 The Ranjeet Bhagwan Singh Research Grant is an annual programme under the RBS Medical Research Trust Fund to be awarded to one (1) young Malaysian scientist to undertake medical/biomedical research.  
International   MyPAiR Malaysia & ISPF UK 22 February 2024 Research collaboration under the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) program and Malaysia Partnership and Alliances in Research (MyPAiR). This research collaboration focuses on the use of the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source (ISIS) in the United Kingdom. ISIS is one of the research centers and facilities located at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford  


Prototype Development Research Scheme - Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia  15 February 2024 Funds created for prototype development to bridge the gap between laboratory discovery/research until pre-commercialization. This includes proof of concept, evaluation, up-scaling, pre-clinical testing, and field testing.

Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology

Closed EduSTEM grant funds activities aligned with several UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve the quality of education, life, health, and wellbeing. A grant of up to RM5,000 is available to be applied by MSMBB members.  

American Psychological Foundation 

Closed Scott and Paul Pearsall Grant supports graduate and early career work that seeks to increase the public’s understanding of the psychological pain and stigma experienced by adults living with visible physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy
