How to Apply

Application for 2024 intake is now open for all students. 

NUMed Malaysia has one intake per year for its undergraduate programme and two intakes for its foundation programme:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and BSc (Honours) Biomedical Sciences – 17 September 2024
  • Foundation in Biological and Biomedical Sciences – 13 May and 23 September 2024

Here’s a brief overview of how to apply for our undergraduate or foundation programmes. You can also refer to our application guide in YouTube which covers how to sign up your application account, how to complete the application form and provide supporting documents.

Note: Applications for the 2025 intake will open in early October 2024.

How to Apply

Step 1: Getting started

Before you begin the admission process for NUMed Malaysia with your online application, ensure you are ready with the simple checklist below:

  • choose the NUMed Malaysia programme that you would like to apply for
  • check that you satisfy your chosen programme entry requirements and English requirements
  • check the commencement/intake date and fee details for your chosen programme

Our team of counsellors are ready to provide detailed information about your chosen programme, answer any queries and address any concerns you might have, and to assist you in your registration process once you are ready to enrol at NUMed Malaysia.

Step 2: Application

To avoid delays in the process, please ensure all information required in the application is complete and correct. Applicants are advised to complete our online application form with the following required documents attached:

  • certified true copy of official academic transcripts
  • certified true copy of forecast results (if official results are not available yet)
  • a copy of your identity card (NRIC for Malaysian applicant) or passport (international applicants)
  • personal statement (application for foundation and MBBS programme)
  • reference letter from a school or college 
  • other supporting documents for your application (if applicable)

Step 3: Application processing

The admissions team will process your application upon receipt of your form and supporting documentation. You will receive updates through email and a decision is usually made within three working days, dependent the on time of year and the faculty receiving your application.

Intake and closing dates

Each undergraduate course has its own closing dates. Read the information in the expandable boxes below for more information.

Foundation in Biological and Biomedical Sciences

The intakes for the foundation programme in 2024 are provisionally 13 May 2024 and 23 September 2024.

Malaysian applicants

While there is no formal closing date for the receipt of applications, you are encouraged to apply early, as application numbers are high and a limited number of places are available.

International applicants

The closing date for international applicants is March 31, 2024 (May intake) and July 14, 2024 (September intake). This is to give us enough time to assist you in obtaining your student visa.

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The date of registration for enrolment in 2024 is 18 September 2024.

Malaysian applicants

While there is no formal closing date for the receipt of applications, you are encouraged to apply early, as the number of applications is high and the number of places available is limited.

International applicants

The closing date for international applicants is 14 July 2024. This is to give us enough time to assist you in obtaining your student visa.

BSc (Honours) Biomedical Sciences

The date of registration for enrolment in 2024 is 18 September 2024.

Malaysian applicants

While there is no formal closing date for the receipt of applications, you are encouraged to apply early, as places on the programme are offered throughout the year and a limited number of places are available.

International applicants

The closing date for international applicants is 14 July 2024. This is to give us enough time to assist you in obtaining your student visa.

Your offer

Congratulations on receiving an offer to study at Newcastle University.

Accepting your offer

We hope that you’ll accept your offer to study with us.

To accept your offer, complete the Reply to Offer form sent to you with your offer letter and send it to admissions@newcastle.edu.my.

There is a deadline for accepting your offer. You can accept your offer as soon as you decide to study at Newcastle University. You can accept before meeting your offer conditions and before applying for funding for your course.

Once you accept your offer, we’ll assume that you’re coming to study at NUMed Malaysia. We’ll send further information so you can start making arrangements.

Declining your offer

If you decide to decline your offer, let us know by emailing admissions@newcastle.edu.my.

Pay your deposit

Once you have accepted our offer, you are required to pay a minimum tuition fee deposit as below. You should pay your deposit as soon as you accept your unconditional offer. This demonstrates your commitment to Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia.

  • MBBS programme – RM20,000
  • BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences – RM5,000
  • Foundation Certificate in Biological and Biomedical Sciences – RM3,000
Conditional offer

You will receive a conditional offer if there are conditions that you need to meet before you can start your course. The conditions of your offer are stated in the offer letter. Please be informed, if you do not meet the conditions of your offer, the deposit will be refunded in full. However, if you do meet the conditions but decide not to study at NUMed Malaysia, your deposit will not be refunded.

Unconditional offer

You will receive an unconditional offer if you have met our conditions and entry requirements. Please be informed, your deposit is non-refundable.

Next steps

Once you have accepted the offer and made the tuition fee deposit, we will be sending you information on student accommodation, a welcome pack and information about your enrolment and induction.
