Staff Profiles
I obtained my PhD from Athens University, in the field of Byzantine Art and Archaeology. Short periods of studies and research were funded by Aegean Scholarship-American School of Classical Antiquities in Athens, Library Research-Dumbarton Oaks Washington D.C., Notre Dame Medieval Institute IN.
I worked for many years in the Greek Ministry of Culture carrying out a great number and variety of administrative, archaeological, educational and other tasks.
I am currently a Marie Curie fellow in projects of Landscape Archaeology "Hydromedie" and "TerraSage" at Newcastle University.
My scholar interests include secular and vernacular architecture and art, from byzantine/medieval cultures and beyond, the investigation of pre-industrial and rural activities, the (ethno-) archaeology of natural resources (resin, honey) and use of animals (beekeeping, pigeon and fish breeding), currently water management (water collection, terracing) and hydraulic technology (watermills).
