Background
I joined the HCA team in October 2025 as a Research Support Officer, working alongside Lizzie Bell (School Research Manager), James Copley-Mills (Research & Finance Coordinator), and Abbey Tate (Research Support Officer).
I support the academics and my team in the day to day running of research projects, including such things as:
- Supporting colleagues with initial costings for potential projects and adjusting them to be relevant to the funder.
- Helping to guide colleagues to follow University and Funder guidelines to ensure projects and project costings are created and ran efficiently.
- Managing and advising on project budgets, as well as general administration to keep projects running smoothly.
- Relaying between the Grants & Contracts team and academics to raise projects through our internal NU Projects software.
- Managing financial tasks such as purchasing, expenses, invoicing, and auditing
I have previously worked in a variety of roles for Museums Northumberland based at Woodhorn Museum, as a Project Coordinator for the National Trust on projects and compliance with governance frameworks across the north of England, and more recently as a Business Officer for Historic England
