Year 9 and 10 WISDOM Event

Year 9 and 10 WISDOM Event

The "WISDOM: Women In Science Doing Outstanding Maths (and Physics)" careers event

This year we hope to relaunch WISDOM as an in-person event on campus.

Engaging year 9 and 10 girls in maths and physics

The event is aimed at engaging year 9/10 girls in maths and physics but all students who might be interested are encouraged to attend. Students, teachers and parents are all welcome to come along and engage with the fabulous women we will showcase.

The event is scheduled to take place on the evening of Wednesday 15th June 2022 on campus in the Herschel Building. More details will follow closer to the time but we expect the event to include:

  • Engagement talks from inspirational women in Maths, Stats and Physics
  • Careers insight talk
  • Profiles from students/staff from the School of Maths, Stats and Physics
  • Careers carousel where participants can meet and chat with inspirational woman from a range of backgrounds that all use Maths (or Physics) in their daily work

Our virtual event from 2021 is still live if students wish to engage.

In 2021 we collated personal video profiles from 30+ women using maths and physics every day in their roles. They describe their journey, and how maths and physics help in their roles.
