Prof Proukakis and Drs Hallam, Dr Kakariadis, and Dr Villa recognised for peer review contributions

22 June 2021

Huge congratulations to Dr Toby Hallam, Dr Evgenios Kakariadis, Professor Nikolaos Proukakis, and Dr Cristiano Villa who have all been formally recognised and thanked by the EPSRC for their significant contribution to EPSRC Peer Reviews.

Toby, Evgenios, Nik, and Cristiano (pictured) were commended for achieving a rank in the top 6% of College members for participating in peer review activities during the last academic year (2019/20) - a fantastic achievement, particularly in the difficult circumstances of last year.

In letters sent to each college member, Professor Dame Lynn Gladden, Executive Chair of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council said:

Dr Toby Hallam, Dr Evgenios Kakariadis, Professor Nikolaos Proukakis, and Dr Cristiano Villa,

"The College is an important component of our peer review procedure and its members play a vital role in EPSRC’s ability to make robust funding decisions. We approach a wide variety of professionals to provide expert, independent, informed comments on research proposals and to participate in prioritisation panels. It is your willingness to honour your commitment to the College that ensures we can continue to provide robust and effective support for UK research. EPSRC, and your colleagues in the research community, appreciate this commitment and it is true to say that the health of the UK research base has greatly benefited from your participation."

The EPSRC will publish the names and affiliations of those who received the letter of recognition on its website later this year. Congratulations again to Toby, Evgenios, Nik, and Cristiano for their excellent work.

EPSRC, and your colleagues in the research community, appreciate this commitment and it is true to say that the health of the UK research base has greatly benefited from your participation.
