Background

I am a member of the Pure Mathematics group in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics.

Before coming to Newcastle I was at the University of Glasgow, most recently as a Rankin-Sneddon Research Fellow and before that as a Feodor-Lynen Research Fellow funded by the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. I completed my PhD at the University of Münster, Germany.

Research

My research interestes revolve around the study of generalised topological dynamical systems (which I study in the shape of étale groupoids). What makes these fascinating for me is that interesting examples arise from many areas of mathematics (group theory, symbolic dynamics, coarse geometry, combinatorics, differential geometry, or just abstract algebraic objects like semigroups) and the fact that the study of these objects employs tools from various disciplines like Operator Algebras, Topology, and Dynamics.
