Dr Toby Wood is a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics for the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics at Newcastle University. His area of expertise is astrophysical fluid dynamics.
Research
Research Interests
My research concerns the fluid dynamics of astrophysical objects, including the Sun and neutron stars. My main interests are:
- Transport of angular momentum and magnetic flux by large-scale flows and turbulence.
- Instabilities and dynamos in plasmas.
- Electron & Hall MHD in neutron stars.
- Superfluidity and superconductivity.
- Chemical mixing by double-diffusive convection.
- Applications of Lagrangian mechanics in fluid dynamics.
