Kate's research interest is in quantum phase transitions with cosmology. Their current research is centred around using an analogue cold atom system to model the electroweak phase transition

About

I completed an integrated masters degree in mathematics at Newcastle University from 2015-2019. In the latter years, I specialised in applied mathematics, with a particular focus on quantum fluids.

I've now combined my interest in quantum phase transitions with cosmology. I'm currently using an analogue cold atom system to model the electroweak phase transition. I'm interested in how bubbles of true vacuum formed, evolved and interacted in the early universe. My research involves testing various candidate models for observing bubble growth in the laboratory.
