NUMed aspires to provide the best medical education possible to students by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to become capable medical professionals.

Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) has produced a number of successful medical graduates since its establishment in Malaysia a decade ago. NUMed is well-known for its high-quality medical education and global alumni network. It offers two undergraduate programmes: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and BSc (Hons.) Biomedical Sciences, which are equivalent to those being delivered at the world-renowned Newcastle University, UK.

NUMed aspires to provide the best medical education possible to students by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to become capable medical professionals. One way it does this is by engaging with the global medical community and forging strategic international collaborations that allow its students to gain invaluable expertise and exposure in the medical field.

Among others, NUMed works with the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), providing its students with convenient access for facilitating their professional development towards advancing the healthcare community to ultimately improve the quality of patient care in the medical field.

The RCP has a global network with approximately one-fifth of its members based in over 80 countries throughout the world; the RCP has a truly global network. It creates and coordinates internationally recognised exams, as well as a variety of projects targeted at strengthening health systems and raising medical standards across the globe.

Since 2011, NUMed and the RCP have provided postgraduate training to Malaysian Ministry and healthcare personnel. Over 300 Malaysian doctors and health workers have benefited from their staff development and contribution to talent development programmes, which were commissioned by the Ministry of Health.

As the wholly owned branch campus of Newcastle University, UK, NUMed also offers its students access to the parent campus as well as opportunities to participate in research projects there. MBBS students, for example, can intercalate a period of study at the UK campus to focus on a research project under the supervision of various UK and NUMed Malaysia faculty members. BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences students at NUMed, on the other hand, will get to study their final year at the UK campus, and be involved in an intensive research project at one of the school's well-regarded research institutions.

Obtaining a world-class medical education in Malaysia while also being able to engage with a global community is now possible. This allows students to gain international exposure whilst learning relevant medical skills and knowledge required for advancement in the medical field in Malaysia and beyond.
