We have the training programme and opportunities to nurture your talent.

We welcome committed, high-performing players to Newcastle’s Basketball Club.

The club has teams competing in both the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues and NBL Division 1. We cater for both women and men on our training programmes.

Men’s basketball

The men’s basketball first team continues to be one of the best university teams in the country.

We've enjoyed:

  • two back-to-back final four appearances in the BUCS Championship
  • a 3rd place finish in the BUCS Premiership North last season
  • retaining our NBL Division 1 status

As a result, both our profile and reputation have improved across the basketball community.

We also have second and third teams in BUCS, and hold an intramural league.

Women’s basketball

The women's programme has two teams competing in BUCS.

Boasting recruits from NCAA Division 1A and professional leagues in Spain and Holland, the first team:

  • currently compete in the BUCS Premier North Division and finished 3rd in 2017/18.
  • competed in the BUCS Final Four in 2017/18

We partner with the Durham Palatinates, who compete in the WBBL.

This gives our talented players the opportunity to train and compete at the highest level of British basketball.

Player development is at the heart of our women’s programme. The coaching staff from both Newcastle and Durham work together to ensure that BUCS and WBBL schedules complement each other.

This helps players reach their full potential with us.
