Men's & Women's Basketball

Getting involved in Intramural basketball couldn’t be simpler. With the option to create/join a team and play in our weekly league or you can join one of our weekly sessions. 

Coaching and equipment is provided at both sessions and you do not need a team to play. Our coaches will structure the session so you receive drill based activities plus lots of game time.

Intramural basketball sessions run in partnership with the University Basketball Club.

Basketball League

Team entry is now open  please contact our Participation & Events Officer to enter a team.

Enter a team and compete in our Intramural Basketball League. 8 teams will battle it out in weekly fixtures, with games taking place every Monday between 16:00 - 18:00 at Newcastle University Sport & Fitness Centre. 

Fixtures will commence on Monday 7th February 2022. All teams must be entered by Sunday 30th January 2022.

Weekly Sessions - When and where

Once you’ve reserved your place, turn up to one of two sessions, and play. It doesn’t matter what your experience or skill level is, everyone is welcome.

Women's sessions

  • Sunday 13:00 - 14:00
  • Term time only
  • Booking essential via NCL Sport App orwebsite

Men's sessions

  • Saturday 11.00-13.00
  • Term time only
  • Booking essential viaNCL Sport App or website

All sessions are indoors at the University Sport & Fitness Centre in Sports Hall 2.

Book your place

Booking is essential due to capacity limits (30 players)

  • NCL Sport App - download, select 'Intramural Bookings', then your chosen session
  • NCL Sport Web - select make a booking, Intramural Sport, then your chosen session
  • Sessions are bookable 14 days in advance
