Rowing

If you’re serious about rowing, you’re in the right place. Newcastle is one of the best universities for rowing in Britain.

Whether a beginning or an experienced rower, come and join the University’s more successful sports club and one of the best in the country.

Newcastle University Boat Club’s High Performance Programme is in partnership with British Rowing. NUBC has a track record of coaching rowers to challenge for a place in the GB Rowing National Squads. The Club is committed to Rowing's World Class Performance Strategy.

Rowing at Newcastle University

NUBC has enjoyed record breaking successes both domestically and internationally. Since the first Henley Royal Regatta win in 2008 in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup, the club has also enjoyed successes at the Head of the River, World University Championships, European University Championships, BUCS events, as well as consistently producing athletes for the GB U23 team and the GB senior team.

The club is predominantly based at Newburn Water Sport Centre on the banks of the river Tyne where we benefit from some of the best rowing water in the UK. NUBC also benefits from a dedicated Ergo facility for land based training at Cochrane Pak. With three full time coaches in place the training provided ensures all athletes will reach their true potential in a unique and forward thinking rowing programme.
