Hockey

Join one of the biggest and one of the most successful clubs in university sport.

Comprising of over 220 members between the men and women clubs, hockey is one of Newcastle's biggest sports. There are 11 teams between both clubs (7 women, 4 men) that compete in BUCS and the England Hockey National League plus Yorkshire & North East Hockey Leagues at weekends.

The Women’s 1st team are competing at the highest league level in BUCS National League and are also in the England Hockey National League, Conference North on Saturdays. The Men's 1st team currently play their trade in BUCS Premier North and Yorkshire & North East Regional Premier Division on Saturdays.

All training and home matches are played at Longbenton Sports Ground and on our brand-new dedicated sand-dressed floodlight hockey pitch.

The hockey programme is headed up by our Director of Hockey and supported by the Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s 1st teams.

There is a progressive pathway in place for all aspiring hockey players so there are plenty of opportunities to play at the highest level you can.
