9 June 2025
Led by the Careers Services and the Students' Union, this year's Newcastle University Awards took place on the Tuesday 3 June at the Frederick Douglass Centre.
Guests, including regional supporters, gathered to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions that our inspirational students have made to university life, extra-curricular activities, and the wider community.
Professor Chris Day, Vice-Chancellor of Newcastle University, opened the ceremony with a speech praising the efforts and success of all shortlisted students involved in a wide range of impactful projects.
Hosted by Swati Subramaniam, Students' Union Activities Officer, and Naomi Oosman-Watts, Director of Student Success, the evening was one of celebration and admiration for the nominees, runners-up and winners who have all contributed to the success of Newcastle University over the past year.
This year saw a record-breaking 1,670 nominations, from which 41 finalists were invited to the ceremony. As always, so many of our students have gone above and beyond, demonstrating huge commitment and passion for their extra-curricular activities.
