The creative sector covers a broad range of talent and includes a variety of roles in areas such as Music, TV and Film, Arts and Culture, Journalism, Marketing and Branding, Public Relations, Publishing and beyond, each with unique skill sets needed to succeed.    
 
Join a host of industry professionals for a series of insightful events, workshops and panels to equip yourself with useful advice and practical skills to help you gain experience in the creative sector.

  • get business, social enterprise or freelance career advice with our START UP Drop In, where you can get quick-fire practical advice from our Entrepreneurship and Start-up Consultants. Come along to the START UP Space between 1-3pm
  • meet The Courier on the day and find out more about how you can get involved with the student newspaper

Prosthetic Makeup Training for TV and Film

Laura Tallentire is a makeup and hair artist with over 17 years’ experience working in the TV and film industry. 

Join Laura for this exciting hands-on prosthetic makeup session to learn industry-standard techniques in creating and applying SFX prosthetics for film and TV.  

This practical workshop will cover how to apply materials to create realistic wounds like bruising, cuts and burns, and character effects.


Magazine/Zine-Making Masterclass

More than just paper, magazines are a tool for connection and reflection. 

Join Ian Wylie from the Civic Journalism Lab at Newcastle University for this hands-on masterclass and learn how to create unique, handmade magazines that showcase your voice and share your stories. 

The session will also be attended by other local magazine editors and designers including Rachel Childs (The Crack), Andy Wood (TQ Zine), and Thushara Chandrasiri (Darkus), who will share their insights, tips and experiences.
