Clinical psychologists must complete three years of postgraduate training leading to a Doctorate in clinical psychology and be Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered.

Some universities only accept applicants with at least a 2:1 for entry to postgraduate professional training so check with each institution. You will also need GCSE (or equivalent) maths and English at grade C or above.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate courses cover the same topics and include supervised work placements. Postgraduate courses are usually full time and last two years, although there are some part-time courses available.

With a degree apprenticeship, you can gain a level 6 (bachelors) or level 7 (masters) qualification while in paid employment.
Apprentices train on the job with their employer and complete their academic study with a local university through day or block release or distance learning. It can take between three and six years to complete a degree apprenticeship, depending on the programme.
Opportunities are available in a number of sectors and more programmes are being developed. Which? University have produced a guide which includes a list of sectors and occupations where degree apprenticeships are available.
Entry requirements
Entry requirements are set by the employer and can vary. For a level 6 degree apprenticeship, employers may look for English and Maths GCSEs and A Levels or an equivalent qualification at level 3.
For a level 7 degree apprenticeship, you will need to have completed an appropriate level 6 qualification. Check with training providers for individual entry requirements.
If you already hold a degree at level 6 or 7, you can apply for a degree apprenticeship at the same level, however your employer can only access funding if it is in a different subject.
