Parking & Bicycle Storage
We have parking and lockable bike storage available.
Car parking
We have 40 resident parking spaces available at Bowsden Court and 36 resident parking spaces at Castle Leazes. We do not offer resident parking spaces at any of our other accommodation.
Parking permits are booked per term and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you’re an undergraduate student wishing to park for the entire year, you should book a permit for terms one, two, and three. Postgraduate students who wish to park over the summer must also book for term four. You can apply for a parking permit below.
Blue Badge holders are entitled to free permits. We have a limited number of accessible parking spaces at Castle Leazes, Park View, Marris House, Kensington and Park Terraces, and Windsor Terrace. Please contact the accommodation reception directly for more information.

Permits for Bowsden Court are free and only valid at Bowsden Court. Permits cannot be used on campus or at any other accommodation location. Book a permit for Bowsden Court.
Parking is charged per term and is only available to Castle Leazes, Park View, and Marris House residents. Castle Leazes permits are only valid in the designated resident parking area and are not valid at any other accommodation or campus car parks. Book a permit for Castle Leazes
Please use the link at the top of the form to pay for the parking permit before completing the form. You will then be asked to provide the receipt number within the form. Forms completed without valid receipt numbers will not be processed, and you will not have a parking permit held for you. Please also review the agreement and conditions below and our student car parking policy.
Subject to parking bay availability, parking permits can be allocated should you require use of your car due to a temporary mobility impairment. Please contact the Customer Services team at your accommodation reception to discuss your change in circumstances. All requests will be assessed on an individual basis.
Permits must be displayed in the windscreen and vehicles must be parked in a marked bay, within the designated resident parking area at the specified residence on the permit. Vehicles must not be parked in any other area as this will result in enforcement action.
By entering and remaining on the property of the University, you agree to the conditions indicated on the parking notices displayed and are contracted to be legally bound by them.
If you breach any of the stated conditions, you will be issued with a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) and agree to pay the Parking Charge of £60 within 28 days, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days. When a Parking Charge becomes due, an application may be made to the DVLA for the registered keeper details. Public parking
Public parking is available Monday to Friday 17.00 to 00.00, Saturday and Sunday 06.00 to 00.00 at Castle Leazes, Marris House, Windsor Terrace, and various campus locations. Public parking bays are clearly marked by signage. Parking tariffs apply and can be paid via the Pay by Phone app. Enforcement action will be taken if public parking conditions are breached.

Using the storage
We may occasionally need to suspend access to bike parking areas to enable maintenance access. We'll give you at least two weeks’ notice so that you can remove your bike. If you fail to do so, the bike will be removed.
The bike storage is not insured, and your standard Personal Possessions Insurance (provided as part of your accommodation contract) does not cover bikes. You are advised to use a strong lock and to take out extended insurance cover. Your bike must be removed at the end of your contract period. Due to a lack of storage space, abandoned bikes will be given to charity.
All residents and visitors may use the outside bike racks on a first come, first served basis. You do not need to request permission. If you have any questions regarding bike storage, please feel free to reach out to your accommodation reception.
There are no student parking facilities on the University main campus. There is limited resident parking available at Castle Leazes and Bowsden Court. See above for details.
As per the terms of your contract, you should not store your bicycle inside your room or anywhere inside our accommodation due to safety and space restrictions. It is advisable to use the designated bicycle storage facilities at your accommodation or on campus.
Due to high demand for bike storage, applications for storage of a second bike will only be processed if availability allows. We recommend checking with the accommodation reception in advance to ensure that there is enough space to store multiple bikes before travelling to your accommodation.
