‌Facilities

Our facilities include:

* TV licence is included in en suite flats only. If you bring your own TV or watch using a personal electronic device, you will need to purchase your own licence.

Lifestyle

Single postgraduate students can choose from self-catered en-suite rooms in flats shared by five to six students or standard rooms in flats shared by two. En suite flats are stylish, comfortable and social with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area which is ideal for making new friends. Standard rooms are clustered in two-bedroom flats that offer large rooms for single student occupancy. There is a separate fully furnished lounge, kitchen and a bathroom which includes a bath and shower. In the lounge, there is a telephone point and Sky TV connection (subject to licence and subscription).

Family flats, offering two and three-bedrooms are self-contained and come fully furnished with the addition of a washing machine, so you and your family can move in and get on with family life. Flats for couples are also self-contained, offer two bedrooms and, similary to family flats, come fully furnished with the addition of a washing machine.

Access and safety

Bowsden Court is spread over two to four floors with no lift. We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.

A Residences Manager is responsible for Residential Services as well as welfare and discipline and a Customer Services Manager is responsible for Reception Services.

Location

The accommodation is two miles from campus and has excellent links to Newcastle's shops, restaurants and bars via the Metro transport system.

There are numerous local shops, pubs and food outlets as well as a large supermarket close by.

Your contract

Bowsden Court is University-owned accommodation.

2021-2022 residents

The contract is a fixed term period of either 50 weeks for postgraduate students or 40 weeks for couples and families and covers the duration of the academic year. Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.

All utility bills are included with the exception of couples and family flats; WiFi is free, and we also provide Personal Possessions Insurance.
