Turner Court is a popular student residence and part of the bigger Portland Green Student Village located to the East of the city in Upper Ouseburn.

The accommodation offers en-suite rooms in four, five and six bedroom flats. Each flat has an open-plan lounge/kitchen and rooms have four-foot beds.
There is a social/common room with pool table and large screen TV. It's an ideal place to catch up with friends after a hard day studying.
There is also an external courtyard for sunny days and an on-site supermarket, so you’ll never go hungry.
Building work will be ongoing throughout the academic year on a site adjacent to Turner Court, which may cause disturbance to residents.
Access and safety
Accommodation is spread over eight floors with lifts, entry-phone systems and CCTV. 24/7 onsite professional and friendly staff and night security staff keep a watchful eye on the buildings after dark.
This accommodation is just five minutes from the popular Ouseburn area. It's a 12-minute walk from the campus and city centre.

A short walk will take you to the campus, passing the new Marjorie Robinson Library en route, and then onto city centre shops, bars and restaurants.

Bus companies operate services to Turner Court from the city centre.

Calls to this number will cost 10 pence a minute from a landline and considerably more from a mobile.
From Newcastle Central Station, you can take a bus and taxis are also available.
Newcastle International Airport is about seven miles northwest of Newcastle University.
A taxi from the airport will take about 15 minutes, costing approximately £15.
You can also travel by Metro (rapid transport system) to Central Station which will take about 30 minutes.
You can then take a bus to Turner Court.

Turner Court is one of our Managed Partnership residences, owned by Abodus Student Living. The length and terms of contract differ to that of the University.
The contract is a fixed term period of 42 weeks (22 September 2018 to 13 July 2019) covering the academic year and an additional few weeks.
Rents are charged per week, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges.
All utility bills are included, WiFi is free and they also provide personal possessions insurance via Endsleigh Insurance.

You'll need to pay a £200 booking fee when you accept your offer which will convert to a security deposit on the day the tenancy starts.
If you are allocated a room in Turner Court and accept it whilst holding only a Conditional Firm offer, and are unsuccessful in obtaining a place to study at Newcastle University, your room allocation will be withdrawn and your application cancelled. If you had paid any upfront fees, these will be refunded to you in full, but there may be a small delay in the refund being processed.
Our accommodation is accessible to all and we support students who have particular needs or disabilities.
Three fully equipped en-suite accessible study-bedrooms include a wardrobe with pull-down hanging rail, height adjustable bed and desk, together with a fire alarm strobe warning light system and pull-cord alarm.
The en-suite is equipped with pull-cord alarm plus hinged support and grab rails.
There are vibrating pillows available on request and evac chairs for students with mobility issues to use when necessary.
All pull-cord alarms are connected directly to the 24-hour reception.

Information for over the Christmas Vacation
All University-owned accommodation receptions will be closed for the Christmas vacation period from Saturday 22 December and will re-open as per normal opening hours from Wednesday 2 January.
If you have an emergency outside of reception opening hours or during the Christmas vacation period, please contact Estate Security for assistance on 0191 208 6817 or by using the Help Point buttons located in the reception areas.
What to do before you leave your accommodation
Before you set off for the Christmas vacation, please remember to:
• Take ALL valuable possessions with you
• Make sure all windows and doors are locked
• Close bedroom curtains
• Switch off lights and all electrical appliances in study bedrooms
• Check taps and showers have not been left running
• Unplug radio alarms
• Dispose all of your perishable food stored within your refrigerator
• Remove all kitchen refuse from your flat
