Jesmond Road is next to the Philip Robinson Library, and the Majorie Robinson Library Rooms. Just a short walk from campus and city centre, it's available for postgraduate students.

Jesmond Road offers self-catered accommodation for postgraduates in eight flats of varying sizes. All the flats have communal lounge/kitchens and shared bathrooms. 

The residence is in a great location, just a short walk from campus and the bustling city centre, with its multitude of shops and restaurants. As it's right next to the Robinson Library, you will also have the added benefit of being able to pop in and get food at the Robinson Library café.

Access and safety

Accommodation is spread over three floors with no lift. We take the safety of our students very seriously and Estates Security Officers patrol our accommodation to ensure your peace of mind.

A Residences Manager is responsible for Residential Services as well as welfare and discipline and a Customer Services Manager is responsible for Reception Services.

Your contract

Jesmond Road is University-owned accommodation.

2021-2022 residents

The contract is a fixed term period of 40 weeks. Rents are charged per day, so if your contract differs to the standard dates above (i.e. earlier arrival), you will incur additional accommodation charges at the relevant daily rate.

All utility bills are included; WiFi is free, and we also provide Personal Possessions Insurance.

This accommodation site won't be available during summer 2022. If you're a postgraduate student and are offered a 40 week contract, we may be able to offer you an extension over the summer in another residence.

Reception opening times

From Monday 20 September Reception will be operating the following hours:

Reception doors are open Monday to Friday, 08.30 – 17.45 and the Customer Services team can also be contacted by telephone and email from 08.00 – 18.00.

Please note that due to the ongoing Covid 19 situation, our normal reception opening hours are subject to change.  Any changes from the hours stated here will be communicated to our residents and signage showing the new opening hours will be displayed by the reception entrance.

You will be greeted by a member of our Customer Services Team on Windsor Terrace who will let you know where to park. 

Once you have parked make sure you have your photographic ID and key release form ready to show to a member of our team. Proceed on foot with your ID and key release form to the Marquee located on Windsor Terrace. 

A member of the Customer Service team will greet you and ask to see your photographic ID and key release from. Please follow the instructions provided by the team member who will provide your key pack and inform you where to go.

Please remember that you must have vacated the parking bay by the end of your time slot to allow others to arrive on site.

The Customer Services team will be available to help with queries from 0800 - 1730 on Friday 17, Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September.

Reception will revert to normal opening hours of 0800 – 1800 Monday to Friday (doors open 0830 – 1745) from Monday 20 September.

Out of hours key collection 

If you expect to arrive outside of opening hours and need to collect your key on arrival, you'll need to contact our Estates Security Office on +44 (0) 191 208 6817. Security Officers will arrange to meet and give you your key and you will be asked to show a copy of your Accommodation Acceptance with details of your room allocation. 

If you’re staying at one of our managed partnership sites, you’ll need to contact your accommodation directly in advance; contact details for your residence and the out-of-hours team is available within the location section of your residence webpage.
