Honorary Degrees in Education

At the meeting of Senate on 13 November 2024, it was agreed that the University should offer Honorary Bachelor of Education awards to former students who missed their chance to receive their awards in October 2023.

The awards recognised and celebrated former students who graduated with Certificates in Teaching from partner colleges prior to the introduction of the B.Ed. degree in 1970.

Following a communication campaign with alumni, a total of 141 for students were identified and validated by the student data team. Due to the geographical spread of recipients and other accessibility issues, the awards were conferred in absentia for the second and final tranche of recipients.

Please note, applications for the Honorary BEd awards are now closed and there are no plans to reopen.
